Salman Khan movies that are remakes of popular South Indian flicks

Over the past decade, the films made in the South have not only got the attention of the Indian audience but have reached internationally, which is apparent from the business they have made overseas. Creating South remakes has become a huge trend in Bollywood, which appears to be the best way to be successful at the box office. These remakes are made from Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu films, which had performed well.

Speaking of hits and blockbusters, Salman Khan is well renowned for South remakes and has always shown a great deal of interest in their scripts. Reports suggest that the Blockbuster Khan has starred in ample remakes and gained most of the recognition from these films.

Most successful south remakes

Kick (2014)

Kick was a remake of the 2009 Telugu film of the same name. It also marked film producer Sajid Nadiadwala's directorial debut. The movie received several negative reviews for its logical faults but was entertaining enough to woo the audience.

Ready (2011)

Ready was a remake of the 2008 Telugu film of the same name and was one of Salman's ultimate comedy flicks. Its music was also loved by the fans. The film became the second-highest opening-day grosser, as well as the second-highest weekend grossing Bollywood film on its release.

Wanted (2009)

Pokiri is considered one of the biggest all-time hits in the South film industry. After its success, Prabhu Deva directed a Bollywood version of the film starring Salman which turned out to be an even bigger hit. He plays as an IPS officer in the movie and is joined by Ayesha Takia in the lead.

Tere Naam (2003)

The 2003 drama ‘Tere Naam’ was a massive hit. Apart from the film’s success, Salman’s rowdy haircut in the movie became super popular and inspired his league of fans to sport the Radhe look. ‘Tere Naam’ revolves around Radhe who falls in love with a first-year college student Nirjara, played by Bhumika Chawla.

Other hits and blockbusters

No Entry (2005), Biwi No. 1 (1999), Bandhan (1998), and Judwaa (1997) are a few notable mentions. Salman Khan is now set to attain the remake rights for Mahesh Babu's Telugu hit 'Maharshi'. Meanwhile, Salman is busy working out to get into the perfect shape as he prepares to step in the shoes of Chulbul Pandey for his upcoming film ‘Dabangg 3’. The film is the third instalment of the super hit action-drama which sees him play a rough and tough cop in a style that resembles Robinhood.
