Sam Bahadur box office collection day 4: Film registers massive drop, earns ₹3.50 crore on Monday

Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur suffered a major blow at the box office owing to the clash with Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal. The film opened to ₹6.25 crore, but due to good word of mouth, the earnings picked up the pace on the second day. Over the weekend, the film collected ₹25.55 crore in India. Seeing the pace, it was expected that the film would be able to pass the Monday test, but it failed.

As per the early estimates reported by Sacnilk, Sam Bahadur earned ₹3.50 crore in India, a huge drop from its Sunday collection of ₹10.03 crore. Adding the Monday collection, the total earning of the film stands at ₹29.05 crore.

Sam Bahadur had an overall 22.65 per cent Hindi occupancy on Monday with maximum ticket sales for the night shows - 35.35 per cent.  

Due to strong competition from Animal, Sam Bahadur seems to have been affected. In India, Animal collected ₹241 crore with just ₹212.58 crore in Hindi.

This film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP Movies. The film stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh, apart from Vicky Kaushal. The biographical war drama is based on the life of India's first field marshal, Sam Manekshaw. He became the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. The film pays homage to Manekshaw and his contribution to the Indian army and the country at large.

Sam Bahadur is Vicky Kaushal's biggest weekend for the year as it has collected more than Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (₹22.59 crore) and The Great Indian Family (₹4.15 crore). However, Sam Bahadur is not his last film of the year. Vicky will be closing the year with one of the highly-anticipated films Dunki, directed by Raj Kumar Hirani.
