Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of the most celebrated directors of Bollywood. The Padmaavat director has given some of the most iconic movies to the Hindi film industry. So here are some of the most loved and talked-about scenes from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movies.

1. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)

This 1999 film starring Aishwarya Rai, Ajay Devgn, and Salman Khan is considered to be a masterpiece by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. One of the most favourite scenes of the film according to fans is the scene where Nandini (Aishwarya) chooses Vanraj (Ajay) over Sameer (Salman). When Nandini finally meets Sameer in Italy she tells him that she now loves her husband Vanraj who helped her find him without expecting anything in return. Sameer who looks broken-hearted because of this decision accepts his fate and lets Nandini go back to her husband.

2.  Black (2005)

Black is considered to be another masterpiece directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee. In the film, Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of an eclectic teacher who teaches a deaf and blind girl who has been isolated by her parents due to her disabilities. In one particular scene of the film, Amitabh Bachchan teaches young Michelle how to say 'ma' and 'pa' and her parents rejoice when they hear her speaking for the first time.

3.  Bajirao Mastani (2015)

Bajirao Mastani is a period drama based on the love story of the Peshwa king Bajirao I (Ranveer Singh) and the princess of Bundelkhand Mastani (Deepika Padukone). But Peshwa’s wife Kashibai (Priyanka Chopra) also played an important role in the tale. In this one particular scene, Kashibai conveys her disappointment regarding Bajirao choosing Mastani over her and commands him to never enter her room again. This scene was applauded by critics and the audience for Priyanka and Ranveer’s acting and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s impeccable direction. Check out the scene here.

4. Ram Leela (2013)

This modern take on Shakespeare’s play Romeo Juliet, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, had scenes that portrayed intense chemistry between the lead characters. In this scene, Ram (Ranveer Singh) and Leela (Deepika Padukone) finally talk about a deal where there will be no business, trade or family-related interaction between Rajadi and Saneda (their respective families). This deal also marked an end to their love-story since both Ram and Leela were the leaders of the sects. The scene where Ram takes a selfie with Leela is particularly emotional since both are helpless and burdened with their own set of responsibilities. Watch the scene here.
