The film is helmed by Milap Zaveri who also directed Ek Villain. Zaveri also revealed the inspiration behind Sidharth’s avatar in the film. He said that Sid’s look in the film is inspired and is on similar lines with that of Amitabh Bachchan in Deewar, Sunny Deol in Jeet and Jackie Shroff in Hero. The Satyameva Jayate director elaborated that Raghu (Sidharth’s character in Marjaavaan) depicts ruggedness, who walks with match-sticks in his mouth spouting smart one-liners. He drew a comparison of Amitabh Bachchan’s character traits in Deewar with Sidharth’s character traits in Marjaavaan. He said that Raghu is his version of Vijay in Deewar and is like a homage to Amitabh's character wherein Vijay was seen playing around with a rope in the film while Raghu will be seen playing around with match-sticks in the film indicating his volatility.
