Sona Mohapatra doesn’t mince words and the singer has proved this time and time again by lashing out at Anu Malik for the sexual misconduct allegations against him in the #MeToo movement. Not just that taking on the music composer, she has also been taking on those who have been supporting Anu Malik. After expressing her discontent with fellow singer Hema Sardesai supporting Anu Malik, she has now called out another singer-music composer, Vishal Dadlani. As the latter spoke about the ‘apathy’ of people over the current impasse in the Maharashtra government formation, Sona said that he was a ‘hypocrite’ for bothering about ‘apathy’ when he was not taking a stand and continued to work with Anu Malik on Indian Idol 11.
Amid the current chaos between Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party and the involvement of the Nationalist Congress Party and Indian Congress, Vishal tweeted, “You know what's incredible? 99% of Mumbai couldn't care less about whatever is going on with the formation/non-formation of the Maharashtra government. What amazing apathy! Such a disconnect with our own lives for the next 5 years! Wow! #SpiritOfMumbai". Sona was not pleased and replied, “U know what’s even more incredible? That U continue to give gyaan about ‘apathy’ to people who do not have 1 ounce of your money, power! These 99% struggle everyday.U don’t & yet choose to SAY & DO nothing about multiple accused #MeToo co-judge Anu M on #IndianIdol ?Hypocrite much?”
Vishal Dadlani, Anu Malik and Neha Kakkar are the judges on the eleventh season of Indian Idol that is currently underway. Sona has not been hesitant about expressing her unhappiness over Anu Malik being brought on board the show, much before he even started shooting. She has been constantly sharing her opinion over it on Twitter.
Not the first time
Previously, she had even slammed Sachin Tendulkar for praising the show. She had written, “Dear Sachin, Are you aware of all the @IndiaMeToo stories of multiple women, some minors who came forward in the public domain about Anu Malik, the judge in this same Indian Idol show last year including their own ex producer? Does their trauma not matter or touch anyone?”
Recently, when Hema Sardesai had come out in Anu Malik’s support, she had reacted, “Somebody tell Ms Sardesai that yes, it takes two bodies to even get raped but that does not mean the person getting raped is to be blamed? Also, this is called victim shaming & it is the reason why minors, survivors & their families haven’t formally complained? Sick, Silly woman.”
Sona Mohapatra was among the most prominent names to have raised her voice against Anu Malik during the #Metoo movement in October last year. She had called him a 'predator' then. Neha Bhasin too joined in the allegations against Anu Malik a few days ago, using the same word.
