Sterling K Brown talks about his character in Waves to Laura Dern

Sterling K Brown, who is known for portraying the role of Randall Pearson in NBC’s This is Us spoke to Laura Dern about his film Waves. Sterling K Brown and Laura Dern recently interviewed each other for a media publication’s popular interview segment. Sterling K Brown talks to Laura Dern about Waves

Laura Dern and Sterling K Brown recently interviewed each other for a media publication’s popular interview segment. In the interview, Sterling K Brown talked about his role as a father in the film Waves and Laura Dern talked about her role as a divorce lawyer in the film Marriage Story. During the interview, Laura Dern said that she was moved by Brown’s role in the film Waves and asked him about playing this particular character.

Sterling K Brown responded that he himself is a father of two boys in real life and as a parent, you want to protect your kids from every danger and harm. But in the end, you know that they are going anyway face certain obstacles, he said. He further revealed that in Waves, he is raising a boy and a girl. His son in the film recognises that as a black young man he is a threat to himself and hence as a father my character has the desire to see his son surviving and thriving in life. Brown further revealed that his character in Waves is basically lost since he has to raise these two kids all by himself for a period of time. This situation is a very unique place for a man to be, said Brown.

Laura Dern also asked Sterling K Brown about how his character’s approach changed when it came to dealing with his daughter’s issue. Laura also praised his performance in Waves and said that she found it beautiful and heart-breaking. Dern’s question and appreciation made Brown blush a bit and he also joked about the same. He responded by stating that Dern just made a black man blush. While talking about the change in approach, he said that his character as a father changed out of necessity. Sterling K Brown also added that his character realises that holding onto your children with a grip might not be the only way of being with them.
