In a recent promotional interview for his upcoming release Gadar 2, actor Gaurav Chopra spoke fondly about the qualities that make Sunny Deol such an endearing figure. The two actors will soon be seen together in the film directed by Anil Sharma. Gadar 2 also stars Ameesha Patel and Manish Wadhwa.

2 things you should know:

  • Gadar 2 is slated to release on August 11.
  • Gaurav Chopra was recently seen in the web-series Rana Naidu.

Sunny is shy, lovable, desi... just like Tara: Gaurav Chopra

Speaking to entertainment portal Bollywood Bindass, Chopra opened up about the many ways in which he finds Sunny Deol very similar to Tara Singh, the iconic character played by Deol in Gadar 2. Chopra elaborated, “There is no difference between Sunny and Tara. In his real life too, Sunny is equally lovable. He is as shy, as much of a simpleton. He is a desi man... just like Tara.”

The Rana Naidu actor added, “There are two sides to Tara Singh - On one side, he is a loving, golden-hearted family man. However, when it comes to saving the family or the country even, Tara doesn’t think twice then. This explains Sunny’s core personality as well.”

The actor, who last appeared in the web series Rana Naidu, also spoke about his personal connection to Pakistan. He said that he gets numerous personal and loving messages from his fans living in Pakistan. Besides, the actor added, “my parents’ families lived in Pakistan too, before they had to migrate in a post-partition scenario. My father lived near Jhelum, while my mother was from Lahore. I often think about taking them to Pakistan, wondering how would they react if they ever actually visited those places again.”

Was initially hesistant about doing Gadar 2: Gaurav Chopra

Chopra also went on to explain why he couldn't say no to Gadar 2 despite a limited role. He added, "I won't deny that my role in Gadar 2 is somewhat small. For same reasons, I was initially hesistant about doing the film as well. However, for some roles, number of scenes is not important. Whenever they are on screen, they are there to do something important." Chopra concluded by saying that he is extremely proud to be associated with a project like Gadar 2

Meanwhile, Gadar 2 has registered strong numbers at the advance booking counters. The film, which also stars Ameesha Patel and Manish Wadhwa in major roles, is set to release on August 11.
