Suresh Oberoi says his son Vivek worked hard for PM Modi’s biopic, blames makers for film's failure
In a recent interview, Suresh Oberoi accused the makers of PM Narendra Modi's biopic of badly editing the movie and added that his son Vivek Oberoi worked hard.
Veteran actor Suresh Oberoi was seen in the recently released movie Animal where he played the grandfather of Ranbir Kapoor. His son and popular actor Vivek Oberoi earned critical praise for helming the lead in the biopic of India’s PM Narendra Modi. However, the 2019 movie didn’t manage to leave a mark at the box office.
Suresh reacts to the failure of PM Modi’s biopic
Talking to Lehren Retro, Suresh shared, “Vivek did very well, I liked him a lot in the film. A lot of places in the film I thought he was PM Modi himself. He worked very hard for the film. Whoever was asked, would say they have seen the film, would praise how it is made, its performances but it wasn’t being reflected in terms of collections.”
Asked about the movie's poor performance, Suresh said, “It was badly edited because there were a lot of people who disallowed so many scenes. Maybe if they would have called it a biopic and changed the title, it would have worked. We had to go and show every time to certain people. If you say, ‘we can’t do this or that, then how will the scenes merge? Obviously, you won’t like the film. ‘Remove this chunk, add that chunk, remove this, add that.'”
Despite a visible poor filmography in recent years, Suresh thinks his son had a great career
Suresh shared, “Vivek’s career was good. It went up, then down. Now he is back on (OTT) platform and is doing very well. He always wanted to do business and acting. He runs a lot of businesses, he is passionate about it.” Directed by Omung Kumar, PM Narendra Modi was penned by Anirudh Chawla.
Suresh Oberoi also shared that he struggled with Ram Gopal Varma before he finally managed to push his son to debut with 2002’s Company.
