Tabu is celebrating her 48th birthday today on November 4. The Maachis actor to date manages to enthral her fans and the audience with her performances and versatility as an actor. The actor has not only won several Filmfare Awards but is also a two-time National Award winner. So to celebrate Tabu’s birthday here some of her best movie performances to date. Take a look.

1. Maachis
Tabu’s portrayal of Veeran a young girl who then joins a terrorist organisation during the Sikh insurgency in 1980s won her a National Award. The actor not only managed to give an impactful performance in this critically acclaimed film but also made the role of Veeran a memorable one. Tabu’s performance in the film was critically acclaimed for her stunning dialogue delivery and portrayal of a character who operates in the grey area.
2. Chandni Bar
Tabu won her second National award for her role as a bar dancer in this 2001 film Chandni Bar. This Madhur Bhandarkar film was a highly successful attempt at portraying the life of a bar dancer who then gets involved in the political drama surrounding her husband. Tabu’s role as Mumtaz was welcomed by the audience as well as the critics and is considered to be one of her best performances to date.
3. Maqbool
Maqbool is considered to be one of the finest films directed by Vishal Bharadwaj. His exceptional direction transcended to his actors who played the roles in the film based on Shakespeare’s play Macbeth. Tabu’s role as Nimmi, Lady Macbeth according to the play was all about being guilt-ridden and being ambitious at the same time. Tabu’s performance as Nimmi was well-received by the critics even though the film failed at the box-office.
4. Haider
Haider is another Vishal Bharadwaj directed film that is based on a play by Shakespeare. Haider was based on Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. Tabu played the role of Haider’s mother in the film and Gertrude by the play. Even though the lead role of the film was portrayed by Shahid Kapoor, Tabu managed to steal the major spotlight with her role as Ghazala Meer.
5. Andhadhun
Andhadhun is considered to be one of the finest works of director Shriram Raghavan. The film that revolves around the involvement of an apparently blind pianist in a murder shows Tabu in a completely different light. Tabu’s character Simi who is involved in the murder of her husband adds a completely new angle to this black comedy.
