The Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao led Stree had released back in 2018. The film was a runaway hit at the box office and stood much appreciated for its unique take on the relatively underexplored genre of horror comedy in Hindi cinema. Drawing from the great reception of the film, Stree 2 is now underway. Filming for the same, kicked off earlier this year in July in Madhya Pradesh's Chanderi. The latest buzz around the film now is Tamannaah Bhatia joining the cast for a brief appearance.

Tamannaah Bhatia to feature in Stree 2?

Tamannaah Bhatia is reportedly all set to join the cast of Stree 2. The Jailer actress, however, will not be joining the cast in the capacity of a pivotal character. Instead, as per a Gulte report, the actress will be featuring in a peppy dance number. For the unversed, 2018 release Stree too had the song Kamariya which had featured Nora Fatehi.

The shoot for the song has reportedly already been completed. Earlier this year, Tamannaah's performance in Jailer's song, Kaavaalaa, became quite the internet sensation. The actress was greatly appreciated for her zesty and energetic performance in the song and significantly contributed to Jailer becoming one of the highest grossing Indian films of the year, raking in worldwide collections of ₹604.5 crores. On the work front for Tamannaah, the actress has also joined Nikkhil Advani's Vedaa, along side John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh.

Stree 2 is an integral part of the horror-comedy universe

The film is being helmed by Amar Kaushik and is being bankrolled by Maddock Films. The ensemble horror-comedy, starring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee is slated for a theatrical release on August 30, 2024.

Other films making up the horror-comedy universe include the Janhvi Kapoor led Roohi (2021) and the Varun Dhawan starrer Bhediya (2022).
