Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior: Details on Saif's character 'Udaybhaan'

Saif Ali Khan will be seen in the role of Udaybhaan Singh in the film titled Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior releasing on10th January 2020. The movie is directed by Om Raut, and its cast includes Ajay Devgn, Kajol in pivotal roles. Ajay Devgn will play the role of Tanhaji Malusare, the famous warrior and commander from the military army of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 17th-century. He played an important role during the battle of Sinhagad. Udaybhaan Singh was a Rajput military head from the Mughal army who fought against Tanhaji Malusare and the Maratha Army.

Who is Saif's character 'Udaybhaan Singh'?

In an interview with a leading daily, Saif Ali Khan said that he is blindly following his director Om Raut's words for his character in Tanhaji as Om has done detail research for the film. He also mentioned that the character Udaybhaan Singh needed to look leaner and be adept in horse riding for the film. However, Saif mentioned that the horseriding part was a bit easier for him as he used to come directly from the sets of Laal Kaptaan, which is releasing October 18, 2019. Saif also mentioned that physical preparation for Tanhaji has been very rigorous.

Saif Ali Khan says that his character just happens to be on the wrong side

Saif said that his character in Tanhaji just happens to be on the wrong side. He mentioned to a leading magazine that his character was a dutiful soldier and that there are a lot of admirable things about Udaybhaan Singh. Saif also revealed that his character is an antagonist in the film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.  Going by the overall buzz around the character, Saif is bound to get compared to 'Khilji' from Padmaavat and only time will tell how he justifies his character, Udaybhaan Singh. Tanhaji's cast includes Ajay Devgn and Kajol, who will reappear on screen together after the 2010 film Toonpur Ka Superhero. On the other hand, Saif Ali Khan will be next seen in Laal Kaptaan after his Netflix series Sacred Games 2.
