Tanushree Dutta Lashes Out At Ganesh Acharya; Calls Him ‘A Liar’
She further accused Acharya of harassing her and said that he forced her to do an intimate dance step with the actor
Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta recently accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment. After these statements, the choreographer on set at the time, Ganesh Acharya broke silence on the matter. The choreographer went onto deny all allegations levelled by Tanushree, following which, Tanushree Dutta lashed out at Acharya.
The actress who accused Patekar of misbehaving with her while they were shooting for a song on the sets of 'Horn 'Ok' Pleassss' in 2008, said that Ganesh Acharya is a liar as he gave out a statement stating non-involvement of Patekar in the incident. She further accused Acharya of harassing her and said that he forced her to do an intimate dance step with the actor.
In an interview with ANI, the 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' star said, "He's a bloody liar and a two-faced person. He's going to say all that. And 10 years ago, he was one of those people who were equally complicit in the harassment. He won't admit it."
Explaining the whole incident, Tanushree Dutta stated that she was physically assaulted by Nana Patekar while the whole crew was forcing her to perform the intimate dance step with the actor that she didn't agree to. She said that according to her contract, she was supposed to do a solo dance step and did not sign up to perform a duet. The actress further claimed that she complained about the same to the authorities but they did not take any action.
"He misbehaved on the sets. He was being aggressive and was pushing me around. I complained about him, but it was not heard. They (film crew) were forcing me to do an intimate step. My contract stated that it was a solo dance sequence, and it was not supposed to be a duet. It was a way to manipulate me. This was the whole harassment situation going on," Dutta said in her statement.
The actress further alleged that she and her family were attacked as she refused to do the intimate step. She said that when she tried to escape, the makers called the media to do a mob lynching attack on her and her parents who were inside the car. Describing the incident as horrific she said that they were locked inside the studio and Ganesh Acharya was the one who pressurised her to perform the step.
"When I tried to escape it, they called the media to do a mob lynching attack on us. My mother and father were inside the car. That was horrific. They made sure that we didn't escape the studio as they locked the gates. Ganesh Acharya was the one who pressurised me to perform an intimate step. Everybody was involved including Amit Siddiqui and Rakesh Sarangi. All of them are good friends," Dutta stated.
Journalist Janice Sequeira backed up the actresses statements saying she was present at the scene and can validate most of her statements. She took to Twitter and wrote, "Some incidents that take place even a decade ago remain fresh in your memory. What happened with #TanushreeDutta on the sets of “Horn Ok Please” is one such incident - I was there. #NanaPatekar"
Here's the wire thread where she talked about the incident:
The actress said that her fight is not is with Nana Patekar or Ganesh Acharya, but with the misconduct. She said that one cannot get away with the behaviour and should suffer the consequences of their actions. She said that she wanted these people to get banned from the industry.
