The Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan starrer The Zoya Factor has created a buzz right since its trailer release. The film released at the box office yesterday. The Zoya Factor box-office collection for the first day is now out. The film managed to collect merely around Rs. 60 Lakhs on the first day according to Box Office India. The film has performed well in the state of Kerala with a collection of Rs. 7 Lakhs. Meanwhile, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas starring Karan Deol and Prassthanam starring Sanjay Dutt performed better than The Zoya Factor. Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas gained around Rs. 1.1 Crores while Prassthanam gathered around Rs. 75 Lakhs.
The Zoya Factor also did not receive great reviews from film critics. It also stars Angad Bedi, Sanjay Kapoor and Sikandar Kher in pivotal roles, other than Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan. Critics like Rajeev Masand have reviewed the movie. He felt that the actors Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan did justice to the characters given to them. However, he felt that while the movie takes flight, it could not soar high. Even though the subject of movies and cricket fascinates the Indian audience, only time will tell whether the box office collection goes up over the weekend.
The Zoya Factor plot
Abhishek Sharma directed The Zoya Factor and it was produced by Fox Star Studios. The film is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Anuja Chauhan. The film depicts the story of Zoya Solanki (played by Sonam Kapoor), an advertising agency executive, who is considered the Indian cricket team's lucky charm. In the film, Dulquer Salmaan plays the role of Indian cricket team captain Nikhil Khoda. On the work front, Sonam Kapoor will next be starring in Shashanka Ghosh’s Battle of Bittora and Veere Di Wedding 2. South Indian actor Dulquer Salmaan will be seen in Srinath Rajendran’s Kurup.
