TV: A list of actors who left television and ventured into Bollywood

The Indian Television Industry has given fame to many aspiring actors. Many of them have today become huge celebrities due to TV shows. Actors like Sanaya Irani, Surbhi Jyoti, Karan Kundra, Karan Singh Grover and many more have won the hearts of millions. Despite being successful in their TV careers, many have failed to achieve that glory when it comes to the big screens in Bollywood. Actors like Amar Upadhyay, Gurmeet Choudhary, Manish Paul, Jay Bhanushali and many more have achieved tremendous fame on TV but have not had successful careers in Bollywood. Listed below are the stories of a few actors from TV who could not make it big in Bollywood:
1) Amar Upadhyay
Famous for his role as Mihir Virani from the serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Amar Upadhyay made his mark in the television industry. This role made him a household name across the country. After seeing so much success in the television industry, Amar Upadhyay ventured into Bollywood with a film called 'Dhund – The Fog' and also appeared in 'LOC Kargil' in the same year 2003. But both of these films did not do well at the box office.
2) Rajeev Khandelwal
One of the most popular TV actors, Rajeev Khandelwal is known for his show, Left Right Left. Khandelwal left the show as he wanted to venture into Bollywood. In 2008, his first movie Aamir released and he received strong praise from viewers and critics for his performance. After this, he appeared in a few more Bollywood projects such as Shaitan, Soundtrack, Table No.21 and Samrat & Co. However, Rajeev Khandelwal did not receive the same amount of fame in Bollywood that he received in his TV shows.
3) Anita Hassanandani
She is another household name in the TV industry. Anita rose to fame with a number of serials. Her first serial that brought her to light was the show Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii. She was a well-known name in the TV industry. She left her television career to venture into Bollywood with films like Taal, Kkavyanjali, etc. But soon, Anita returned to television with shows like Yeh Hai Mohobatein and Naagin 3
