Varun Dhawan: A list of the actor's most underrated performances

Varun Dhawan has been in the Bollywood industry since 2012 when he made his acting debut in Student of the Year. Varun Dhawan is widely known for his great dancing skills and charming the audience by his romantic hero image. That said, he broke the stereotype of his romantic comedy roles when he played the character of Raghu in Badlapur. Badlapur is a story of a young man, Raghu, who seeks revenge for his wife’s and child’s murders. Varun Dhawan played the serious character of Rahgu, where the critics, as well as the audience, were pleasantly surprised to see him act like that on the big screen. He shared the silver screen with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Huma Quereshi in pivotal roles. October (2018)

October is a romantic drama film revolving around a young college student, Dan, who falls in love with a girl, Shiuli, who meets with an accident. Dan feels a deep connection with her and spends his time taking care of her while she is paralysed. Varun Dhawan received a lot of critical acclaim for portraying the character of Dan well and leaving an impact on viewers’ minds.

Sui Dhaaga (2018)

Sui Dhaaga is a story of a couple who decide to become financially independent by starting a business of their own. The plot is about a couple's unordinary love that develops amidst all the struggle and triumphs as they grow together after starting a small-scale business. Varun Dhawan played the character of Mauji, who is shown as a happy young man who is content with what he has. Until one day when his wife nudges him to start his own business and become an entrepreneur. Varun Dhawan received a lot of critical acclaim for his role.

Kalank (2019)

Kalank is a multi-starrer drama film portraying love, betrayal, revenge, and depression. Varun Dhawan played the character of Zafar, a blacksmith, who is on a journey to seek revenge from his father’s family. Although the movie tanked at the box office, Varun Dhawan received critical appreciation and his acting skills were well received by the critics.
