Veteran actress Seema Deo died at the age of 81 on August 24. It has been reported that the Anand actress was suffering from Alzheimer's disease and passed away during the wee hours of Thursday. The news of her death was confirmed by her son Abhinay Deo.

A look at Seema Deo's contribution to the industry
Seema Deo began her professional journey as an actor with the film titled Miya Bibi Razi released back in 1960. However, she rose to fame for her role as Suman Kulkarni in Anand, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna as the main leads, in which her real-life husband Ramesh Deo essayed the role of her reel husband. Later, she rose to prominence for her roles in the films Kora Kagaz and Naseeb Apna Apna. Apart from appearing in Hindi films, she was also a renowned Marathi actress, She appeared in over 80 movies throughout her career. Seema Deo was last seen in the Marathi film Jivan Sandhya in 2021.

Seema owed her career to Guru Raja Paranjape
In 2017, Seema Deo attended an event in Pune, wherein she opened up about her career and said that she owed it to her guru Raja Paranjape. She said, "Whatever I could achieve in my career, it’s all because of my guru Raja Paranjape. He not only taught me to act but also trained me so rigorously that it became very natural."
Seema Deo's son opens up about her illness
Seema Deo's son Abhinay Deo opened up about his mother's medical condition back in 2020. He wrote on his social media handle, "My mother Shrimati Seema Deo, doyen of Marathi film industry, is suffering from Alzheimer’s. We, the entire Deo family, have been praying for her well-being, wish whole of Maharashtra who loved her so much also pray for her well being."
