It rarely happens that all of the three Khans, Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh’s movies underperform at the box office. But that did happen last year as ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ and ‘Zero’ were outright flops and ‘Race 3’ too didn’t live up to the expectations. At the same time, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who played supporting roles to the trio in the past, has seen his career graph go up. As a section of the netizens feel he’s left the trio behind, the actor doesn’t want to rub anyone the wrong way and quipped that he just wants to continue with his work.
While Nawazuddin has always stood out in so-called character roles, ‘Babumoshai Badookbaaz’ in 2017 was reportedly his first solo hit and last year’s ‘Thackeray’ did decent business too. Moreover, the actor's performance in ‘Sacred Games’ alone fetched him fans galore.
Nawazuddin recently appeared on his ‘Freaky Ali’ co-star Arbaaz Khan’s chat show ‘Pinch’ which revolves around celebrity’s reactions to comments, largely negative, from social media user.
In the teaser of the video, one such user was of the opinion that he has left the Khans behind. When shown the particular comment for a reaction, ‘The Lunchbox’ star immediately broke into laughter and said, “Bhai, mujhe kaam karne do”(Brother, let me just work) as if to steer clear from making any controversial comment on the biggies and even Arbaaz couldn't hold his laughter.
Nawazuddin also defended his choice of a role that made a fan feel infuriated at him, by saying he is an actor who wants to do all kinds of roles. The actor also took a dig at film critics who give stars to his movies.
