Veteran Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam has taken a sly dig at the 'secular people' in India following the Pulwama terror attack along the Jammu-Srinagar highway in which 40 CRPF jawans were martyred on Thursday.
On his official Facebook account, almost a day after he condemned the IED blast, Sonu Nigam posted a video in which he could be seen sarcastically praising those who shout anti-national slogans and speak against their own country.
Unlike his previous post, in which he condemned and criticized the recent attack, the singer, in the video, spoke in a manner which truly exposed the hypocrisy of some individuals and groups in the country.
"I have heard people of India are getting angry and expressing their anger over the death of CRPF jawans. Around 44 people I guess. Whether it is 44 people or 440, why should the Indians feel sad about it? What is there to be sad about? You should do what is right, what is secular. Leave these things behind for the RSS, BJP, organizations who support Hindutva. You should do what secular people do (and say) - 'Bharat tere tukde honge......', 'Afzal ham sharminda hain.......'. Say it again - 'Bharat tere tukde honge......', 'Afzal ham sharminda hai......'. If you have to live India, then this is the kind of secular thinking you should have," said Sonu in the video before adding, "It is wrong to say things like Vande Mataram and all. Don't say such things. And please don't feel bad over the death of the CRPF jawans. It wasn't a big thing."
Prior to that, he had penned a heartwarming post on the same social media website expressing grief over the recent act of terror.
"Prayers for the families of the victim CRPF javaans killed in Pulwama today. These are warning signs of conflicting times ahead.. It's difficult to fathom that some people would be rejoicing today celebrating the massacre in their homes and places of worship. Strange world we live in. Now there will be a retaliation from us.. They will die. And this goes on. We live in a crazy world. Only because the rational ones are quiet and the fanatics have taken over the society. Om Shanti. God bless the families of the CRPF javaans," he wrote on Facebook.
