With the increase in stress levels for various reasons, depression and other mental health issues have been on the rise. However, the good news is that there’s been more emphasis on mental health in recent years, after being looked down upon or spoken in hush-hush tones since ages. While many popular celebrities over the years couldn’t take stress any more, several stars all over the world have spoken about battling issues and winning over it recently. Many such stories would be discussed as the world gears up for the Mental Health Awareness Week from October 6. Aamir Khan sent an extremely important message on the occasion, highlighting how innumerable factors lead to fear and shame, but it was important to share the pain with the close ones and seek help.
"#worldmentalhealthweek2019 Sudden, lose of job or money can cause intense fear & shame.Unmute Ur feelings & unlock Ur mind.Let shame, fear & sadness find compassionate ears in close friends & family.Healing begins when feelings r tabled.Intense pain, seek help. STAY ALIVE!” (sic) Aamir wrote on Friday.
Previously, he had also shared a message from Psychiatrist Dr Harish Shetty, who shared an image with the text: "Emotional hygience is as important as physical hygiene. Being aware and sharing difficult emotions relieves stress. Physical exercise can also beat stress. Tackling it early prevents depression. Any one can suffer from depression. Timely help works.”

Stars speak out
Before Aamir, many stars have opened up on their own troubles with issues like Depression. One of the most notable names in this has been Deepika Padukone, who even set up her a organisation for the same, The Live Love Laugh Foundation.
"As far as the conversation around the causes of mental health is concerned, I think we've come a long way. But we certainly have a long way to go in terms of creating more awareness,” Deepika said at an event in September.
She added, "I think the conversation has opened up. I don't think that there's as much stigma as it used to be four years ago.”
Zaira Wasim, who will be seen in The Sky is Pink and has quit films for religious reasons, had also highlighted how depression can affect even the young ones.
