Vijayakanth admitted to hospital for the second time in 15 days, doctors share a health update

Vijayakanth, the popular actor turned politician and president of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) has once again been admitted to a private hospital. The veteran actor has been suffering from health issues for the past few years and his current visit is reportedly a follow-up health check-up.

Vijayakanth hospitalised

Earlier this month, Vijayakanth underwent treatment at a private hospital in Chennai and was later discharged a couple of weeks ago. However, late on Tuesday evening, he was admitted again due to concerns about his health. A medical bulletin issued by the private hospital stated, "DMDK president Vijayakanth was brought to the hospital after 15 days for a routine health check-up. He is in good health. After the check-up, he will return home by Thursday."

Having previously undergone a kidney transplant surgery, Vijayakanth frequently attends regular health examinations to monitor his well-being. Despite concerns about his health, a statement from the DMDK assured the public that Vijayakanth's current hospitalisation is part of his regular check-up routine and that he is doing well.

The veteran actor's contribution to Tamil cinema and subsequent foray into politics has earned him a significant following. As he undergoes this routine health check-up, supporters and well-wishers hope for his speedy recovery and a return to good health by the end of the week.

Vijayakanth’s political stint and struggles

Emerging as a prominent figure in Tamil Nadu politics, Vijayakanth earned an MLA seat in the 2006 Assembly elections with an 8 percent vote share. He further served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2016. However, his party faced setbacks and experienced a decline in influence within the state due to his health issues.
