Kangana Ranaut, an actress-turned-politician, was slapped by a CISF constable, Kulwinder Kaur, at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday. The actress was travelling to New Delhi a day after her Lok Sabha elections win from Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh. The incident went viral and the constable was suspended after a complaint was registered by CISF officials. Since then, several celebs have condemned the act. Adding to the list are Hrithik Roshan and Alia Bhatt.

Hrithik and Kangana have their share of controversies. It all started when the actress mentioned “silly exes” in an interview. Although she didn’t name Hrithik, he sent her a legal notice asking for a retraction. Since then, both actors don’t see eye to eye. However, keeping aside his differences with Kangana, the actor extended support.

An independent journalist, Faye D’Souza, shared a post condemning the act. She wrote, “With reference to the incident of MP Kangana Ranaut being slapped at an airport, violence can never be the answer. Especially not in our country that was born out of Gandhi’s ideals of non-violence. It doesn’t matter how much we disagree with views and statements made by someone, we cannot react with violence and we should not condone it. It is particularly dangerous when security personnel react violently while in uniform. Imagine, over the last ten years, if those of us who questioned power were assaulted at airports by constables who were in agreement with that power.”

Soon after the post was shared, Hrithik liked the post, condemning the act and extending support to Kangana.

Kangana and Alia also share a strained relationship, and the former never shies away from criticising Alia. In 2019, after the release of Gully Boy, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia, Kangana gave a negative review of Alia’s performance. She called her “mediocre” and told paparazzi, “I am embarrassed…What is there to beat in Gully Boy's Performance … same snappy muh phat girl… Bollywood’s idea of a fiery girl, woman empowerment and good acting, spare me this embarrassment, please. Media has taken filmy kids love too far…stop pampering mediocre work or else the bar will never be raised.”

However, Alia accepted her criticism and praised her for her honesty.
