Kamal Haasan Predicts Non-acting Career For Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh's Baby

The cast and crew of Kalki 2898 AD are preparing for their upcoming film set in a post-apocalyptic world. The film, known for its grand visual effects and mystical narrative, has also captured attention due to Deepika Padukone's role as a pregnant mother. During a discussion titled The Kalki Chronicles among the film's team, Kamal Haasan humorously speculated that Deepika's child might become a filmmaker someday.

Deepika shared an anecdote about director Nag Ashwin's enthusiasm, saying, “I was in Bombay during a long break because of our shooting schedules. I hadn’t heard from him in a while, and then I saw a missed call from Nagi. He just called to tell me they had shot their first day with Kamal sir. It was like hearing from an excited child.”

Kamal Haasan, pointing to Deepika's baby bump, quipped, “That’s what made this film. That child. We hope this child will also make a film someday.” His comment amused everyone, including Deepika.

Deepika and Ranveer Singh announce pregnancy

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh announced their pregnancy on February 29, 2024, through a joint Instagram post featuring icons of baby clothes and toys, captioned, “September 2024…Deepika and Ranveer.” Though initially keeping a low profile after the announcement, Deepika has attended promotional events for Kalki 2898 AD, proudly displaying her baby bump.

In Kalki 2898 AD, Deepika plays SUM-80, a pregnant lab subject carrying the chosen one, believed to be the Kalki avatar, the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Amitabh Bachchan portrays Ashwatthama, an immortal warrior cursed by Lord Krishna in the Mahabharata. The film also stars Disha Patani in an action-packed role as Roxie.

Kalki 2898 AD is set to release on June 27 in multiple formats including 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D, and in several languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
