When Mohammed Rafi-Dilip Kumar visited the border to entertain soldiers after the Indo-China war

On the occasion of Mohammed Rafi's birth anniversary, Saira Banu went down memory lane and took out a major throwback photo from her archives. Along with the photo, she penned a note recalling how Dilip Kumar and Mohd Rafi once visited the border to entertain the soldiers following the Indo-China war.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Saira Banu shared a black and white photo of both the legends and penned a sweet note sharing an interesting anecdote related to them. She started off her note by writing, "Rafi Sahab undeniably stands as one of the greatest playback singers our country has ever seen!"

Opening up about their "mystical bond," she wrote, "viewing him not merely as great playback singer but essentially as a part of his own voice. There are numerous anecdotes about this legendary duo, including their visit to the border to entertain our precious Jawans following the Indo-China war."

She concluded by writing, "In the coming days, I look forward to unveiling wholesome anecdotes about Rafi Bhai and the moments he added to both Sahib's and my life. Remembring Rafi Bhai on his Birth Anniversary!"

More about Mohd Rafi

Mohd Rafi is considered one of the greatest and most influential singers of the Indian subcontinent. He was notable for his versatility and range of voice; his songs varied from fast peppy numbers to patriotic songs, sad numbers to highly romantic songs, qawwalis to ghazals and bhajans to classical songs. He recorded as many as 7,000 songs throughout his career, spanning several languages and dialects such as Hindi, Konkani, Assamese, Bhojpuri, Odia, Bengali, Marathi, Sindhi and Kannada. Apart from Indian regional languages, he also sang in some foreign languages, including English, Farsi, Arabic, Sinhala, Mauritian Creole, and Dutch.
