With her latest post, the actress has opened up about her longstanding battle with ptosis, also detailing her road to recovery.

Zeenat Aman opens up about her struggle with ptosis

Sharing the weight of battling her condition for this many years, Zeenat Aman referred to her ptosis as the "elephant in the room" that she now wants to show the door. In her own words, " I have a condition know as ptosis - the result of an injury I suffered many decades ago that damaged the muscles around my right eye. Over the years, it caused my eyelid to droop further and further. And a few years ago it became so acute that it began to obstruct my vision."

The actress further detailed how she knew for a fact that the condition significantly whittled the kind of opportunities she was presented with in her career, especially considering she belongs to an industry where physical appearance is of paramount importance. She found herself lost for solutions in the earlier years of her battle against ptosis - that is until a leading ophthalmologist suggested a procedure.

Zeenat Aman revealed that just before her surgery, she found herself "terrified". Aman writes, "My extremities turned icy and involuntarily shivers racked my body. Zahaan kissed my forehead, reassured me and wheeled me to the OT, where I surrendered to the hands of my medical team.

I emerged from there an hour later - alive, well and looking like a pirate with an eye patch." Shedding light on her recovery, the veteran actress revealed that the procedure has in fact made her vision clearer.
