The show is being held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, which has been recovering from fires that destroyed more than 14,000 structures and displaced tens of thousands. So far Doechii, Sabrina Carpenter and Beyonce have won the Grammys. Not many know, Grammy ran over time this year. It’s not unusual for an awards show to run over. And the Grammys only did so by 20 minutes, following a show packed with performances, tributes, historic awards and emotional appeals for wildfire relief.
Grammys Performance: Shakira returned to the Grammys stage after years and made sure people remembered her by giving an electrifying performance. Sabrina Carpenter, Eilish and Roan, Shaboozey, Charli xcx, Doechii, RAYE, Benson Boone, Shakira, Teddy Swims, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars also ruled the award ceremony with their soulful performances. The award ceremony also remembered late musicians Quincy Jones and Liam Payne., but forgot to mention Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain.
Taylor Swift, who last month wrapped her massive Eras tour, will be a presenter. Other presenters will include Smith, Cardi B, Gloria Estefan, Olivia Rodrigo, Queen Latifah, SZA, Victoria Monét and the Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Anthony Kiedis and Chad Smith.

7-time Grammy winner Alicia Keys adds another award to her shelf and this time in the category Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. During her acceptance speech, she said, "DEI is not a threat, it’s a gift. And the more voices, the more powerful the sound. When destructive forces try to burn us down, we rise from the ashes like a phoenix.”
After winning Best Latin Pop Album, Shakira ruled the stage with her performance on Ojos Asi. Her performance was prefaced by a video package in which she talked about her separation and her greatest fears coming true. But the Colombian superstar was triumphant tonight, winning best Latin pop album and delivering a characteristically show-stopping, belly dance-filled performance of “Ojos Así" and her massive hit “BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 53.” The latter opened with a dramatic choral performance before shifting into high gear.
Footage of the One Direction singer, who died in a fall from an Argentina hotel room in October, opened the always-emotional memorial segment. Chris Martin sang “All My Love” as names and faces flashed by.
While accepting her Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group performance alongside Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga took the moment to speak about the LGBTQ+ community. “I just want to say tonight that trans people are not invisible,” the singer said. “Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be lifted up. Music is love.”
“We won, Beyoncé,” Miley Cyrus said, opening her presentation of record of the year. Cyrus and Beyoncé picked up a Grammy earlier in the day for best country duo/group performance for “II MOST WANTED.”
Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar won Record of the Year at the Grammys this year. “We’re going to dedicate this one to the city,” L.A.'s son said, accepting the record of the year Grammy and rattling off places around LA from his hometown of Compton to Long Beach. This isn’t the first time Lamar has used the Drake diss track to bring the region together. In June, he turned his Juneteenth “Pop Out” concert into a cathartic live-streamed celebration of Los Angeles unity.
“Y’all ain’t gon’ let nobody disrespect the West Coast. Y’all ain’t gon’ let nobody imitate our legends, huh,” he said during the concert, referring to Drake’s use of an AI tool to mimic 2Pac’s voice on one of his diss records.
Tonight, he used the win to draw attention to the devastation from the wildfires in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena.
Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga won the Best Pop Duo Performance for the song Dies With The Smile. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars made their acceptance speeches to each other as they accepted the best group/duo performance. Mars told Gaga, “I’m so honored to have a small part in your giant musical legacy and I really truly believe that God gave us this song to sing together.” Gaga went just as big with her kudos, saying, “Bruno you are an incredible human being, you’re a musician for the ages.”
Will Smith is still banned from the Oscars after The Slapgate. But there’s one major award show that’s quite literally rolled out the red carpet for him, which is the Grammys. Smith, who has won four Grammys himself, presented a tribute during the prime-time telecast to his late mentor Quincy Jones, who he said “changed” his life forever. In his career, Jones won a staggering 28 Grammy Awards, and worked with everyone, including legendary artists Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson. Cynthia Erivo, accompanied by Herbie Hancock, performs Fly Me to the Moon during a tribute to Jones.
The third single and accompanying music video from “Mayhem” aired during a commercial break at the Grammy Awards. The track has a twisted good-witch-bad-witch energy, with a frenetic group dancing in a dystopian chamber.
“I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved, you are worth it, and I will always fight with you," Shakira said during her acceptance speech.
Shakira won Best Latin Pop Album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. Upon being announced a winner by Jennifer Lopez, her sons, Milan and Sasha, immediately hugged the singer. Accepting the award she said, “This is incredible, thank you so much. I want to share this award with my kids. I’m so proud of you guys, and of your kind hearts. Thank you so much for supporting me the way you do. I love you.””
Kanye West and his wife Biana Censori showed up to the Grammys to walk the red carpet and then left on their own, as per AP. While some reports claimed that West and Censori were booted from the event, a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that West, was an invited guest because of his nomination in the best rap song category for “Carnival.” The rapper and Censori walked and exited without being escorted out, the source said.
The Weeknd makes a surprise appearance for a performance at the Grammys. Later, Playboi Carti joined The Weeknd on stage to perform Timeless. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. mentioned The Weeknd’s criticism of the Grammys’ lack of transparency in a speech, as host Trevor Noah teased a big surprise. The Weeknd in 2020 slammed the Grammys, calling them “corrupt” after he landed zero nominations despite a megahit album.

In a remarkable moment at the 2025 Grammy Awards, the late US President Jimmy Carter was posthumously awarded his fourth Grammy for best audiobook narration. This recognition, for his narration of Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration is his fourth Grammy win, as per The Hollywood Reporter. The album, released in August 2024, less than two months before Carter's 100th birthday, features a collection of folk songs and Sunday school lessons from the former president.
Carter died on December 29, just days before the ceremony. His grandson, Jason Carter, accepted the prestigious award on his behalf, delivering a heartfelt speech in honour of the late president's legacy. "My grandfather was incredibly important to me," Jason said, adding, "Over these last few weeks, we've felt this enormous outpouring of love from all around the world, from many of the people in this room, and I just want to say that having his words captured in this way for my family and for the world is truly remarkable," as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Beyonce continues to make history, this time by becoming the first Black woman to win a Grammy in the country music category in half a century. The previous record holder for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group was The Pointer Sisters in 1975. At the premiere ceremony, Beyonce also took home her first award of the evening, bringing her total Grammy wins to 33.
During her acceptance speech, Roan said, "I told myself if I ever won a Grammy and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a livable wage, especially to developing artists." She talked about being dropped from her initial label deal when she was a minor and being left without job experience and health insurance. “Labels, we got you, but do you got us?” she said.
Chappell Roan won Best New Artist, beating Raye, Sabrina Carpenter and Benson Boone. It marks her first-ever Grammy.
A medley of best new artist performances is presaging the award announcement, including Benson Boone’s gymnastics-heavy rendition of Beautiful Things. He then handed the proverbial baton to Doechii. Her performance was followed by Teddy Swims, Shaboozey and RAYE. After winning Best Rap Album, Doechii proved that she raps even better than she speaks. A true hip-hop icon is in the making, and the sky truly is the limit for her talents. Billie Eilish and SZA were seen cheering for the rapper.
Benson Boone began his performance at the table before serenading celebrity guests and arriving on stage via backflip. He has been nominated in Best New Artist category.
Beyonce won Best Country Album for Cowboy Carter. She sat stunned in the audience for a moment after Taylor Swift read that the superstar had won. Accepting her award from Taylor Swift, the singer thanked her family and said, “I was really not expecting this, I want to thank God that I’m able to still do what I love after so many years."
Chappell Roan sets the stage on fire with her first performance at the Grammys. She sang her hit track Pink Pony Club, making the audience dance to her beats.
Singer Olivia Rodrigo won’t be performing at this award ceremony, rather she graced the stage to introduce Chappell Roan. “I was her friend and a big fan back when she was working in a donut shop in Highland Park not so long ago,” Rodrigo said, introducing the performance from Chappell.

This marks her second Grammy after winning Best Pop Solo Performance for the hit single Espresso at the Premiere Ceremony this year.
Doechii won Best Rap Album for her hit track Alligator Bites Never Heal, making her the first Grammy of her career. She is the third woman to win in this category after Cardi B and Lauryn Hill. It has been reported that Kanye West and his wife Bianca have been escorted out of the Grammy Awards after turning up uninvited, per Entertainment Tonight. “ET has learned that the rapper, his wife and an entourage of about five people showed up to the Grammys uninvited. Kanye walked the red carpet with Bianca, who appeared fully naked under her fur coat. ET was told that the couple was then escorted out of the awards show,” the publication stated.
Taylor Swift, who has been nominated in six categories, walked on the red carpet in a bold sparkling red dress. She paired her short dress with matching high heels and her iconic red lipstick.
Frankie Valli, known for his timeless work, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Premiere Ceremony. It is his first Grammy despite five career nominations.
