A throwback video of actor Rahman, who is related to AR Rahman, has gone viral recounting a funny incident Saira Banu shared during their honeymoon.
Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman has grabbed headlines after his announcement of separation from his wife, Saira Banu, on November 19.
Rahman shared the news of the end of their 29-year marriage via his official X account, where he posted a heartfelt message: "We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter."
Amidst the announcement, a throwback video of actor Rahman, who is related to the 'Jai Ho' composer, has gone viral. In the video, he recounts a funny incident his wife shared during their honeymoon. According to the actor, instead of spending time with his wife, Rahman was practicing the veena in another room.
Talking to the interviewer, the actor shared, "I remember, when he got married, he took my sister-in-law for the honeymoon to a hill station. I called them that night, it was just 12 or 1… She answered, she was already asleep. When I asked, 'Where is Rahman?' she said, 'I don’t know.' He was in another room, practicing his veena… He was composing something; he’s that kind of person."
Rahman and Saira Banu married in 1995 in an arranged marriage. They have three children together: two daughters, Khatija and Rahima, and a son named Ameen Rahman. The announcement of their separation has come as a shock to fans.
