Barbie and Oppenheimer opened in cinema halls on July 21. The double feature was poised to be a treat for movie lovers and the box office success of the two Hollywood films has reaffirmed this. In India, while Christopher Nolan's biopic on 'The Father of The Atomic Bomb' has been leading since the start, Greta Gerwig's directorial too is performing well.
3 things you need to know
- In India, Oppenheimer opened on more than twice the number of screens as Barbie.
- Oppenheimer's tickets in India were also sold at a much higher price, despite it not being a CGI-heavy film.
- Christopher Nolan's Hollywood movie is on track to become another Rs 100 crore grosser in the country this year.
Oppenheimer biz slows down in 2nd week
Christopher Nolan's directorial has managed to become the biggest non-franchise earner in India. It is well on track to be a Rs 100 crore grosser and should cross the benchmark in a couple of days. Its 12-day earnings stand at Rs 97.75 crore. In the second week, the business slowed down and the earnings have been hit by the release of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

RARKPK has eaten into the business of Oppenheimer in high-end multiplexes in Tier I cities.
Barbie earnings witness a decline
Barbie had been trailing behind Oppenheimer since the start. The Greta Gerwig directorial was released in less than twice the number of screens as the Christopher Nolan film and had significantly less ticket prices than the latter.

Despite these factors and stiff competition from new releases, Barbie has managed to earn Rs 36.85 crore in 12 days. Its collections have been on a decline ever since RARKPK hit the big screens on July 28. It seems unlikely that the Margot Robbie starrer will cross the Rs 50 crore mark in India.
