CSI Miami actor Evan Ellingson dies at 35, actor's father says 'family is in complete shock'

CSI: Miami famed Evan Ellingson has died aged 35. The former child actor passed away on Sunday, according to online records kept by the coroner's division of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. He was discovered in "a bedroom" in Fontana, which is located approximately one hour east of Los Angeles County, according to the record.
Evan Ellingson’s struggles with substance abuse
Before his untimely death, Evan had been living sober at a facility, according to information his father, Michael Ellingson, disclosed by TMZ. Although he acknowledged his son's past struggles with substance abuse, Michael pointed out that Evan had recently been in a better place, which is why his unexpected death came as a shock to his close friends and family.
Evan Ellingson’s acting career
Evan began his acting career as a child, making several TV appearances in the early 2000s. According to IMDb, he made his television debut in the 2001 film Living in Fear as young Chuck. He went on to star in 19 episodes of the ABC sitcom Complete Savages between 2004 and 2005 as a child actor, and he co-starred with Kiefer Sutherland in Season 6 of the Fox TV series 24.
He also starred in a number of TV shows, such as General Hospital, Mad TV and Titus. Evan starred in two films: the independent comedy Walk the Talk (2007) and the wartime drama Letters from Iwo Jima (2006).
However, he is mostly known for playing Cameron Diaz's eldest child, Jesse Fitzgerald, in the 2009 film My Sister's Keeper, which was adapted from the same-titled Jodi Picoult novel. Evan also appeared in eighteen episodes of CSI: Miami from 2007 to 2010 as Kyle Harmon, the son of David Caruso's character Horatio Caine.
