Hollywood movies are always keen on showing their love for cars and car races. There are many movies which have inspired people to speed up their cars and race down the lane which is illegal and dangerous. Movies like The Fast and Furious were amongst the few who threw some limelight on F1 car race heroes. Here are some popular movies based on the Formula 1 race which were loved by the audience.

Grand Prix:

Grand Prix was released towards the end of 1966. The story in this movie is about Pete Aron and three of his friends and the efforts they put in to win a Championship. The movie focuses on their personal lives and the risks that are involved in raving during those days, which mostly involved accidents. The movie was a hit at the box office and won three Academy Awards.

Life on the Limit:

This documentary Life on the Limit is directed by Paul Crowder and throws some light on the insights of how things work in this industry of racing cars. Narrated by Micheal Fassbender, the documentary tells us the history, danger and excitement that a racer faces. This documentary was later turned to a film, 1 and released in 2013.

Rush:

Rush is directed by Ron Howard and the movie was released in 2013. This movie is about the rivalry of two F1 racers. Ferrari’s Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl) and McLaren’s James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) are two rivals and the story focuses on the races they have won and also throws some limelight on their personal lives. Depicting the struggles and the glamourous lives of F1 racers, this movie became a super hit at the box office.

Senna:

Directed by Asif Kapadia, Senna is the real-life story of an F1 racer, Aryton Senna. The story follows his struggles from him becoming a racer to his death. It also showcases the stress the racer faces before every event and how he focuses on making the sport safer for the racers.

Williams:

Sir Frank Williams was a car racer who had an obsession with speed and built one of the world’s most enduring Formula One racing team. The movie Williams was directed by Mathew Morgans and it focusses on the latter's life and career.
