After the Game of Thrones’ creators decided to drop the much-hyped deal with Disney's Lucasfilm for a new Star Wars trilogy, the show loyalists are rejoicing the decision. David Benioff and DB Weiss, creators of the show, said that the new multi-year deal with the online streaming platform Netflix has been the reason behind exiting the trilogy deal.
“There are only so many hours in the day, and we felt we could not do justice to both Star Wars and our Netflix projects. So we are regretfully stepping away," said Benioff and Weiss in a statement.
Fans disappointed after finale season
Game of Thrones' fans were already disappointed with the duo because they felt the makers rushed with the finale season. Benioff and Weiss were heavily criticized on social media for the eighth season as the fans believed many questions were left unanswered. Fans left wondering that creators finished the show in a hurry citing Star Wars project and then they decided to drop that deal as well.
'Google bombed' the creators
Fans were so furious with the last season of Game of Thrones that they started a campaign on change.org to get the entire season remade. They also 'Google bombed' the duo so that their picture showed up when 'bad writers' was searched. "I don’t think they rushed it. I just think they were extremely incompetent all along, and it got exposed in the later seasons," a user tweeted.
