It is the month of October month, that means one of the most awaited festivals of all time is just around the corner. Halloween month is supposed to be scary and to make it scarier, here are several movies that will give the viewers the chills. Watch these scary movies (alone) on the occasion of Halloween month to make the month much more 'festive'. Read more to know about these amazing movies.

Halloween (1978 film)

Halloween is a 1978 horror thriller directed by John Carpenter. It is one of the cult movies of Hollywood. The movie revolves around Michael Myers, a psychopathic serial killer, who murdered his sister on Halloween night. The movie is argued by many to be one of the very first slasher movies. Halloween gave birth to a film franchise by the same name comprising of seven movies. The first movie was rated 7.8/10 by Internet Movie Database.

Psycho (1960 film)

Psycho arguably gave the whole world one of the major jump scare scene. Psycho is directed by one of the most renowned directors of all time, Alfred Hitchcock. The movie is about a young man with a dominating mother. Psycho is a cult movie which is still managing to allure audience 50 years after its release. The movie features Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, and Vera Miles.  In the spirit of Halloween, fans of Alfred Hitchcock should definitely watch the movie.  The movie gave some of the most iconic scenes.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

A Nightmare on Elm Street is a 1984 slasher horror movie. The movie directed by Wes Craven and features Heather Langenkamp, Johny Depp, and Robert Englund. The script for the movie is also written Wes Craven. The film revolves around a ghost of a man that is set to take revenge for his own death by killing the children of people who killed him. Critics have argued that the movie plays with the perception of the audience and toys with the perception of reality. The movie is a must-watch for Halloween this season for the element of fear it induces in the views. The character of Freddy Krueger is one of the most iconic supernatural characters that still manage to give nightmares to the fans.

The Shining (1980)

The Shining is adapted from a Stephen King novel by the same name. The movie is a psychological horror drama produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick. The film stars Jack Nicholson in the lead role of Jack Torrance. Nicholson’s character of Jack gives the views chills with his amazing and terrifying portrayal of a that is either highly mentally disturbed or haunted by some supernatural forces. A sequel to the movie, Doctor Sleep is set to release on November 8, and fans of Stephen King novels should definitely catch the movie in the theatres.

The Omen (1976)

Omens can be good or bad, but the movie The Omen though is surely about the bad ones. The movie revolves around a child that is literally the spawn of Satan. The ‘innocent’ child is a cuckoo raised by unaware crows. The Omen is one of the highest-grossing films of its time. It received an Academy Award for Best Original Score. The movie has a whole franchise to back its claim of being one of the best supernatural horror movies and is rated 7.5 out of 10 by IMDB.
