Celine Dion was rumoured to have been paid handsomely for her Paris Olympics performance. The event served as her comeback performance after 4 years amid her battle with stiff person syndrome. As per a report in TMZ, the My Heart Will Go On fame was paid a ‘ridiculous amount' for the event. A source told the publication, "Our sources say she will be paid handsomely to the tune of $2 million for just one song." The outlet also said the Olympics is "footing the bill" for the icon's travel (which involves jets, boats, and "other expenses").
However, a spokesperson of the Olympics has rubbished all such rumours. The insider told Page Six, “Contrary to some media reports, the performers at the Paris 2024 Games ceremonies will not receive a fee for their performance. Their decision to perform under these conditions reflects their desire to be part of a historic event for France and for the world of sports.” By the spokesperson statement, it was made clear that neither Celine Dion nor Lady Gaga were paid for their performance. But, the insider in the know shared, the Olympics would cover the “technical production” and “costs for the performances, as is customary.” This would mean that the cost of props, costumes, background dancers and other production requirements were fulfilled by the committee.

Meanwhile, this was Gaga's debut performance at the Olympics, whereas Dion had opened the 1996 Atlanta Games with her song The Power of the Dream.
