Joker movie: Supporting cast of Joaquin Phoenix-starrer film
The latest DC comics film Joker released in Indian theatres on October 2, 2019. The movie collected a decent ₹5 crores on its opening day in the country.
After months of hype and build-up, backed-up with two super trailers, it’s safe to say that Joaquin Phoenix-starrer Joker has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Within just one day into its release in India, the ‘Clown Prince of Crime’ has already made enough waves to remind the people why DC Comics’ Joker is the most likeable comic-book villain in pop-culture. After Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning performance for the 2008 smash hit ‘The Dark Knight’, Joaquin Phoenix had some big shoes to fill to portray Batman’s greatest arch-enemy on screen. Phoenix, however, rose up to the challenge and delivered in what could be one of the performances of the decade. Director Todd Phillips, who is known for delivering critically-acclaimed comedies like ‘The Hangover’ and ‘Due Date’, also did an impeccable job of adapting the Joker's origin story for the big screen.

Joker: Supporting actors
Apart from Joaquin Phoenix, the film also had a stellar supporting cast with actors like Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, and Brett Cullen. Director Todd Phillips made sure that he had the right cast to work before the pre-production even began. According to the director, the movie took heavy inspiration from Martin Scorsese films like Taxi Driver (1976) and The King of Comedy (1983). Interestingly, actor Robert De Niro, who plays a talk-show host in Joker, also had a leading role in both those films.
Joker: Future of DC
According to rumours, The Joker movie is also slated to open up a series of DC-based films which would be separate from the DCEU’s continuity. According to Box office reports, Joker made ₹5 crores (approximately) on its opening day in the country. Birds of Prey, DC’s next film, is expected to release worldwide on February 7, 2020. After the success of Aquaman and Shazam, Birds of Prey is intended to be the eighth instalment in the DCEU.
