The late Hollywood actor James Dean is set to make a comeback on the silver screen with the help of CGI for a Vietnam War based film - 64 years after his death! Although the use of Dean’s image has been approved by his family members the usage of his image is facing a major flack online. Celebrities like Chris Evans and Elijah Wood have tweeted about their disapproval. Read on to know more about this film and criticism it is facing from the entertainment industry.
James Dean to be recreated via CGI
According to reports by a leading news portal in the US, James Dean is posthumously set to star in a Vietnam war-based movie. The late Rebel Without a Cause actor will be recreated with the help of CGI technology. The project which is helmed by Magic City Films will have James Dean in a secondary role. The film titled Finding Jack is based on Gareth Crocker’s novel of the same name. The plotline of the film revolves around the 10,000 dogs being abandoned after the Vietnam War.
Celebrities like Chris Evans and Elijah Wood have shown strong criticism for the use of CGI for recreating the Giant actor who died in a car crash at the age of 24. Avengers actor Chris Evans in his tweet stated that he is sure James Dean will be thrilled to know about this. He further stated that the news is awful. He then went on to take a sarcastic jab at recreation by stating that maybe we can get a computer to paint us a new Picasso or write a couple of new John Lennon tunes. The complete lack of understanding here is shameful. Elijah Wood also tweeted about the same issue. He stated in his tweet that nope this should not be a thing and further requested for not going further with this decision. Check out their tweets here.
I’m sure he’d be thrilled 🙄

Robin Williams' daughter Zelda Williams has been debating about the issue since the news broke. In her first tweet regarding James Dean being recreated with CGI, she stated that she has talked to friends about this for years and no one ever believed her that industry would stoop so low once the technology gets better. Publicity stunt or not, this is puppeteering the dead for their ‘clout’ alone and it sets such an awful precedent for the future of performance. Check out the series of tweets Zelda’s put out.
