As per reports, Sam Fender has called Springsteen comparison to his own music 'just stupid.' He said this while attending the premiere of Bruce Springsteen's new film Western Stars. The 23-year-old singer has won this year's Brits Critic's Choice award and has hit top charts with debut album Hypersonic Missiles in September earlier this year.
'Springsteen comparison stupid'
The singer said that he is buzzing to be among guests at the BFI London Film Festival event for Western stars. Even as Springsteen did not give interviews Fender said that for him Springsteen was his biggest hero. When posed questions about comparisons that have been made he said that it is stupid as Springsteen had 19 albums and the only one and that he was a bad version of Springsteen.
He said that he is a bad, northeastern, Geordie version and is actually waiting for a court case for when Springsteen gets him for the songs which Fender has ripped off. Western Stars is a documentary film of Springsteen's number 1 album of the same name which was released earlier this year.
About Western Stars
Western Stars shall feature reflection of Springsteen's life, home videos, and footage with his wife and E Street bandmate Patti Scialfa. Thomy Zimny who has served director for this project has reportedly said that he sees the film as a love letter to Scialfa. Zimny said that it felt like it was a part of a trilogy which has come right after Springsteen's autobiography of Born to Run in 2016 and Springsteen on Broadway Show.

Springsteen an inspiration for Fender
Reports say that despite Fender's home of North Shields being far away from Springsteen's New Jersey, Fender says that he can draw parallels in their upbringings. Fender said that his brother got him into Springsteen's music when he was 15 and that he is from a seaside town which is a very blue-collar place with funny comparisons like Jersey Shore and Geordie Shore which is an obvious one. Fender stated that Springsteen had made rock n roll intelligent for him as a teenager.
He said that it was the first time he ever listened to lyrics. He said that he loved AC/DC and all that was like guitar music about getting pissed and lasses but Springsteen was the first time when he felt like he was writing rock n roll music which about his hometown. He said that while Springsteen was writing about Jersey it felt like he was writing about North Shields and for Fender, it was like he was writing about his dad, mother, brother, friends, people which went under the '80s in his hometown, never mind Jersey. Fender thought that Springsteen as writing about Geordies and that is what he felt whenever he heard any of Springsteen's songs.
