In a recent interview with an international media outlet, American singer Selena Gomez opened up about how she faced mental and physical health issues and how she got through some of the hardest times in her life. She talked about how Lupus affected her body weight and further spoke about the difficulties she faced because of the increased weight. She further said that all these issues contributed to her decision to quit social media for a few days.
“It depends on even the month, to be honest, so for me, I really noticed when people started attacking me for that,” she explained. “That got to me big time. That really messed me up for a bit.”
“I’m very happy with living my life and being present. Because that’s it. Similar to me posting a photo and walking away; for me that’s it. I will do a red carpet, I will do whatever; I don’t need to see it; I participated; I felt wonderful and that’s where the extent of it is. I don’t care to expose myself to everyone and hear what they have to say,” she said
'Scariest' moment
The 27-year-old, in the past few years, has been struggling with lupus and high blood pressure which has contributed to her frequent weight fluctuations. In the month of September, she also revealed the scariest moment of her life after she entered a treatment center for anxiety and depression. She spoke about how fighting anxiety and depression was a challenging period of her life. According to reports, Gomez said that she had explored the option of professional help and during her journey. She said that she got educated and has learned a lot. Even as she continued to focus on her health away from the spotlight, she used to keep her fans updated about how she is holding up on that particular day.
Selena also wants to help others and said that she knows that she had experiences, people and opportunities that have made her life exceptionally beautiful and sweet even though she struggles with her own thoughts and feelings at times; but this does not make her faulty. She further hopes that more people start seeing how beautiful they are rather than being demolished by an image that they are trying to chase. “They’re wanting to be a completely different person, but that’s not what’s inside of them,” she shared.
