American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift's former label on November 18 gave the green light to perform music from her early cataloge at an award show this month. It's the latest update in the months-long dispute between Swift and the Nashville-based Big Machine Label Group, her former label for more than 10 years over the rights to the master recordings of her first six albums. The 29-year-old pop-star claimed that the two men were blocking her from performing older labels at the upcoming AMA Awards and from using songs in a Netflix documentary. According to the reports, Big Machine Label Group has sent a notice to in which they agree to grant all licenses of their artists despite not mentioning Swift by name.

Swift said Big Machine exercises their control on her

The pop star has not publicly reacted. Swift said last week that the representatives of Big Machine were exercising their control over her and said that she was not allowed to perform her old songs because they claimed that she would be re-recording before she is allowed to perform. Swift also said that Big Machine was prohibiting her from using older music or performance footage for a Netflix project. The company denied the allegations last week and further added that the recording artists do not need label approval for a live performance on television or any other live media.

Swift signed a contract with Universal Music Group

The pop-star said that she will re-record her early albums to create copies that she owns herself. She signed a new contract with Universal Music Group in 2018 that gave her ownership for her recently released seventh album Lover. Yesterday, Swift received a message of support from US congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The politician retweeted Swift's original statements and added her own thoughts on how the case demonstrates a wider problem in America. She said that Private equity groups actively hurt millions of Americans. Swift is to be awarded the Artist of the Decade Award at the AMA’s this Sunday.
