'The Addams Family' sequel already in the works, will release in 2021

The much-celebrated The Addams Family is returning for a sequel. As per media reports, MGM Studios announced the part two after the CG-animated film opened to an encouraging USD 30.3 million at the North American box office on its early Halloween entry. The details about the new project are sparse, but the film will hit the screens on October 22, 2021.

"We always knew this piece of great IP was worthy of bringing back to the big screen," PTI quoted Jonathan Glickman, president of MGM's Motion Picture Group, as saying. Reports further stated that he revealed that a sequel was virtually a done deal.

The main characters of the iconic Addams family include Gomez Addams, Morticia Addams, Pugsley Addams, Wednesday Addams, Uncle Fester, Grandmama, Lurch, Cousin Itt, and Thing. All of them appear in the 2019 film, The Addams Family. The film has a star-studded voice cast led by Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron, along with Chloe Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll and Bette Midler.

The Addams Family is one of the most iconic cartoons of all time and was first drawn by the cartoonist Charles Addams, who introduced the family to the world in 1938 through The New Yorker's comics panel. The Addams Family became world-famous once they made their debut in the classic 1960s show. Since then, the family has had numerous shows and movies based on them. The family will now make its return to the big screen with the 2019 CGI animated film The Addams Family, so here is a quick refresher on all the members of the iconic family.
