Following the death of Matthew Perry, a heartbreaking scene of Joey waiting for Chandler in FRIENDS has been doing rounds on social media.
Matthew Perry, most popularly known for her role as Chandler Bing in FRIENDS, passed away on October 28. Following the news of his death, social media was flooded with messages, posts and tributes for the star. Fans of the show have been actively posting moments from the sitcom as a remembrance for the actor who played Chandler Bing on the show. While Matthew Perry starred in several shows and films, he shot to success for his portrayal of the sarcasm-laden, charming Chandler Bing in FRIENDS. Therefore, following his death, a heartbreaking photo from the show has gone viral. The picture, a still from the series, shows Matt Le Blanc’s character, Joey Tribbiani looking over the famous armchair which belonged to Chandler.
The still is from a scene wherein Joey is sitting idle in his apartment and looks at his adjoining armchair which belonged to Chandler, and is empty as he moves into Monica’s apartment. The picture has found a special place among social media users and is now being circulated widely. A user wrote, “Chandler was Joey's everything This picture hurts so bad”. Another user mentioned, “We all lost a collective friend today”.
Matthew Perry’s role in FRIENDS
Matthew Perry starred alongside Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow for 10 seasons on the NBC comedy, FRIENDS, which ran from 1994 to 2004. The show, which won several accolades and has been touted as one of the greatest sit-coms of all time, became a defining part of Perry’s career.
Even though he starred in several other projects after that such as 17 Again, Almost Heroes, The Whole Nine Yards, The Whole Ten Yards, The Ron Clark Story, Fools Rush In, The Kid, and even as a frequent host on Saturday Night Live where he parodied the show, Friends ended up defining his career. The actor died at the age of 54, having been found deceased in a bathtub at his home. However, no cause of death has been uncovered at this time as there are no signs of either drug or alcohol abuse, mental illness, or some kind of crime.
