Wonka trailer 2: Timothee Chalamet is on an eccentric adventure
Timothee Chalamet is gearing up to be in Wonka, a musical drama. It will feature the early years of Willy Wonka's origin story as a chocolatier.
Timothee Chalamet has appeared in a number of diverse roles throughout the years. While he initially broke out with the 2017 romance Call Me By Your Name, he delivered several highly recognised performances with the likes of Beautiful Boy (2018), Little Women (2019), and now Dune (2021). The actor is now set to appear in Wonka (2023), where he will step into the shoes of the chocolatier Willy Wonka.
3 things you need to know
- Wonka comes from the Paddington director Paul King.
- The film is an official adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
- Willy Wonka’s role has been essayed by Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp previously.
Wonka is a dangerously good inventor
The new Wonka trailer features one aspect of Willy Wonka’s which becomes his defining quality. After a girl asks Wonka, “Where do we start?” Wonka replies, “Making chocolate, of course.” In the re-imaging of the Willy Wonka tale, Timothee is seen crafting new inventions and finding ways of making chocolate candy. However, this magical tale is not without hindrances, as Wonka arouses curiosity and opposition from town’ folk.
Comedy-actor Keegan-Michael Key is also featured in the film and steals a few moments within the trailer as well. Most importantly, Wonka is going to be a prequel to any of the on-screen adaptations seen on the big screen so far. Wonka will be a musical combined with the mystery and magic of a genius inventor who dredges up mayhem in all his humour and heart.
What is the cast of Wonka?
The upcoming film features Canah Lee, Fleabag and The Crown’s Olivia Colman, Key, and Peele’s Keegan-Michael Key, Mr Bean comedian Rowan Atkinson, Downtown Abbey’s Jim Carter, Matt Lucas, and Sally Hawkins.
Wonka will be in theatres at several locations from December 6, 2023, and will have its release throughout North America on December 15, 2023.
