Zack Snyder expresses interest in directing next James Bond film

Zack Snyder has spent the last few years trying to introduce new intellectual property (IP) for Netflix including Army of the Dead and the Rebel Moon franchise. However, the 57-year-old director is also known for adding his signature to iconic IP, such as Watchmen, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. When asked if he would ever take up tackling an already-established franchise, Snyder expressed his interest in James Bond. 

Zack Snyder’s pitch for the next James Bond

In a conversation with The Atlantic, Snyder was asked about directing a pre-existing franchise. The filmmaker seemed interested in the James Bond universe. He said, “It’d be cool to see, like, 20-year-old James Bond. The humble roots that he comes from. Whatever trauma of youth that makes you be able to be James Bond. There has to be something there.”

Snyder is the recent one to comment on a potential James Bond 26 film, as the series waits for its next move after the release of No Time to Die in 2021. 

Although he hasn't been associated with the project until his recent remarks. Previously, Christopher Nolan denied any participation in James Bond 26, even though he acknowledged being interested in the idea. Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace), Sam Mendes (Skyfall and Spectre), and Cary Joji Fukunaga (No Time to Die) are some of the directors of the James Bond franchise.

The making of Bond 26 

Producer Barbara Broccoli, who has produced Bond since the 1980s, has previously stated that the process of reimagining Bond is still in its early stages. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is one of the actors reportedly being considered for the role of James Bond, even if the name of the next Bond is still unknown.

Preparations are being made behind the scenes for the next James Bond film. Rebel Wilson said that she had tried out for a part in the movie, while Skyfall director Sam Mendes disclosed that he had turned down a "generous offer" to helm Bond 26.
