Who Was Guruprasad?: The filmmaker was a well-known name in the Kannada film industry. The 52-year-old was allegedly found hanging in his apartment in Bengaluru. As per reports he was newly married and was battling a financial crisis.

Who was Guruprasad? What were his famous movies?

Guruprasad was born in the Karnataka town of Kanakpura on November 2, 1972. As a director, he was known for making satirical films on hard-hitting subjects. The filmmaker made his debut in 2006 with the film Mata. The first film catapulted him to success and became a cult classic in Sandalwood.
 

His second movie as a director Eddelu Manjunatha also became a superhit (2009).  He won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Screenplay for the movie. As a director, Guruprasad made 5 films. His last film Ademaa is still under production.
 

Apart from direction, Guruprasad was also fond of acting. He appeared in acting jobs in over 10 films including Jigarthanda (2016). Apart from this, he also appeared in Bigg Boss Kannada 2 as a wildcard contestant. Very little is known about the filmmaker's personal life, but it is being reported that he recently got married again. As per reports, he was married twice. He is survived by two daughters, from one each marriage. He was not active on social media and his last post was made in 2022 on X (formerly Twitter). 

About Guruprasad's death and alleged financial crisis

CK Baba the Police Supridentent of Bengaluru Rural said, “This morning, the director, Guruprasad was found to have died by suicide in an apartment under the jurisdiction of the Madanayakanahalli police station.” It is known that he was experiencing significant financial difficulties. The police confirmed that the incident was reported by neighbours who complained of a foul smell from his apartment.

The police shared, “The real cause of death needs to be thoroughly investigated. the investigating officer will speak with the family. currently, they are in mourning, so questioning them at this time is inappropriate.” As per reports, the director's body has been sent for postmortem and more details regarding his family and last rites are yet to be revealed. As per police, “he had come to this apartment five or six days ago and would visit occasionally. further investigation is ongoing, and more information will be gathered as it progresses.”
