Lata Mangeshkar on Ranu Mondal's fame: 'It won't last'

56 years old Ranu Mondal who reportedly used to sing outside Kolkata railway station became an overnight sensation after her soulful rendition of Lata Mangeshkar's classic number 'Ek pyaar ka nagma hai' went viral on the internet. Her melodious voice was widely appreciated by the audience and was shared widely across social media platforms. Soon after, Bollywood music composer-actor Himesh Reshammiya spotted her and gave her a big Bollywood debut.
Lata Mangeshkar on Ranu Mondal's newly found fame
While the internet has been buzzing about her talent, veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar recently expressed her views on the same and said that she thinks her newfound fame won't last long. Lata Mangeshkar during a recent media interaction reportedly said that she will consider herself fortunate if someone is benefitted by her name and work, but she feels that 'imitation is not a reliable and durable companion for success.' As per media reports, Lata Mangeshkar said that by singing her song, or Kishore Kumar's song or Mohammad Rafi's song aspiring singers can get short-term attention, but it won't last.
Lata Mangeshkar reported further advised aspiring singers to be original and find their own song. She said while one should definitely sing the evergreen songs by her and her colleagues, after a point of time they should have their own individuality. Lata Mangeshkar gave example of her own sister- veteran singer Asha Bhosle and said that had not she insisted on singing in her own style, she would have remained in her shadow forever. Lata Mangeshkar said that Asha Bhosle is the biggest example of how far individuality can take one's talent to.
Ranu Mondal recreates Aashiqui Mein Teri for Himesh Reshammiya
After lending her voice to Himesh Reshammiya's upcoming film 'Happy Hardy and Heer' song 'Teri meri Kahani', Ranu Mondal recently recreated his 2006 hit number 'Aashiqui Mein Teri' from '36 China Town'. Himesh Reshammiya recently shared a glimpse from the recording session on Instagram where Ranu Mondal can be seen lending her voice as the female lead in full-spirit.

As per media reports, Himesh Reshammiya who hailed Ranu Mondal's voice as 'god gifted' said that he feels that she is blessed with divinity and said that her voice was so mesmerizing that he could not stop himself from offering her the best he could. He further stated that Ranu Mondal's voice should reach everyone and he is just offering a platform for the same.
