Malayalam actor Kailas Nath dies aged 65 in Kochi

Veteran Malayalam actor Kailas Nath died at the age of 65 on Thursday. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Kochi. Kailas was receiving treatment for non-alcoholic liver cirrhosis for a couple of years. The last rites would be held on Friday.

Kailas Nath dies aged 65

The news of Kailas Nath's death was first shared by Vanambadi famed Seema G Nair on her Facebook handle. She wrote, “'Adieu Kailasetta, Popular actor Kailas Nath passed away. Condolences.”

The actor previously experienced a mild heart attack on the set of the television show Santhwanam, in 2021. Later, he was told to get a liver transplant after being diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. Kailas organised the "Rs. 100 Donation Challenge" to raise money for his medical costs. Some of his industry friends including Sajan Surya and Gopika Anil even asked their followers to donate to the cause. 

Kailas Nath’s illustrious work profile

Kailas’ acting career began with the Suresh Krishna-directed movie Sangamam, which was released on July 16, 1999. He went on to play a variety of characters, including a doctor in Sara Varsham and Kochu Swami in the popular movie Etho Oru Swapnam. However, his breakthrough performance came with the release of the movie Oru Thalai Ragam..

Kailas starred in 163 films, 90 of which were in Tamil. By working with renowned performers like Rajinikanth in Valli, he made his imprint on the film industry. His participation in films like Palaivana Solai, Mizhikal Sakshi, Sethurama Iyer CBI, and Seeta Kalyanam raised his popularity among the audience.
