June will some highly anticipated theatrical releases after an average first quarter at the box office. Not just Bollywood and South cinema, some regional releases will look to overturn the slump at the ticket windows. Here is a list of some of the most awaited films that will hit the big screens in the coming month.
Manamey
Sharwanand and Krithi Shetty star in the family drama Manamey, all set to hit the big screens on June 7. The movie promises to be an entertainer with a dash of emotions.
Weapon
Weapon is a bilingual sci-fi thriller, set to release in Tamil and Telugu on June 7. The logline of the Guhan Senniappan directorial reads, "Famous YouTuber Agni (Vasanth Ravi), known for showcasing superhumans, discovers suspicious footage of a boy surviving a lorry accident. As Agni investigates, he clashes with a powerful secret society. The search reveals his superhuman identity."
Raayan
National Award winning Tamil star Dhanush's second directorial is set to release on June 13. It will feature him in an action avatar. After a long time, a Tamil biggie will grace the big screens.
The Watchers
The Watchers marks the directorial debut of Ishana Shyamalan, the daughter of M Night Shayamalan of The Sixth Sense fame. The horror thriller stars Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell and Olwen Fouéré and will release on June 14.
Chandu Champion
Kartik Aaryan and director Kabir Khan bring to life the inspiring story of Paralympian Murlikant Petkar, who won an individual gold medal in the 1972 Summer Paralympics, in Heidelberg, Germany. He also set a world record in the 50m freestyle swimming event. The movie will release on June 14.
Maharaja
Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja will release on June 14. Maharaja is the 50th film of Vijay's career and Nithilan's second directorial venture after Kurangu Bommai. The film also stars Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and Natty Natraj in pivotal roles, alongside Abhirami, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Boys Manikandan, Singam Puli, Bharathiraja, Kalki, Vinod Sagar and Sachana Namidass.
The Bikeriders
Long-delayed Austin Butler and Tom Hardy starrer The Bikeriders will release on June 21. The logline of the film reads, "After a chance encounter, headstrong Kathy (Jodie Comer) is drawn to Benny (Austin Butler), member of Midwestern motorcycle club the Vandals. As the club transforms into a dangerous underworld of violence, Benny must choose between Kathy and his loyalty to the club."
Ishq Vishk Rebound
A reboot of Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao's 2003 film Ishq Vishk, Ishq Vishk Rebound starring Jibraan Khan, Pashmina Roshan and Rohit Saraf will release on June 21. It will look to revive the rom com genre.
Kalki 2898 AD
Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer sci-fi mythological action film Kalki 2898 AD will release on June 27 after much delay. The pan-India film, directed by Nag Ashwin, will look to revive the box office with huge audience turnout.
A Quiet Place Day 1
A prequel to John Krasinski's A Quiet Place, A Quiet Place Day 1 will release on June 28. It serves as a spin-off prequel and the third installment in the A Quiet Place film series. The upcoming thriller stars Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff, with Djimon Hounsou reprising his role from A Quiet Place Part II (2020).
