The Family Plan trailer out, Mark Wahlberg starrer to premiere on OTT ahead of Christmas

Apple Original films released the trailer of their next big release The Family Plan earlier this week. The family entertainer is slated to begin streaming next month.

The Family Plan is part slapstick actioner, part road movie

The Family Plan is headlined by Mark Wahlberg who plays Dan, a car salesman and a suburban family-oriented man whose criminal past comes back to hit at him. The Family Plan, however, promises to be light and comic in its treatment. The film is directed by Simon Cellan Jones, who has been making tv shows for over 30 years and marks his return to film director after 21 years. 

The trailer contains many amusing visuals and moments with Wahlberg’s character fighting off bad guys with a toddler strapped to his chest. Throughout the trailer, we see Dan (Wahlberg) trying to keep his family safe, by hook or by crook. The Family Plan also seems to be part road movie, especially with the visuals of a boomer parents couple trying to hit it off with their young generation on the journey. 

Michelle Monaghan plays Wahlberg’s wife in the film. Besides Monaghan and Wahlberg, the film also stars Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby, Saïd Taghmaoui, Maggie Q and Ciarán Hinds in supporting roles. The Family Plan is written by David Coggeshall.

The Family Plan begins streaming on December 15

In an interview with People earlier this year, the director said about working with Mark Wahlberg, “I know he’s a huge movie star and all, but Mark is amazingly easy to work with. He’s got that secret sauce, obviously, he’s natural and instinctive, super professional and really well prepared. He comes to work with strong and clear ideas about his character and the movie as a whole, but he’s also super collaborative.” Mark Wahlberg is also one of the co-producers of the film, along with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Stephen Levinson. 

The Family Plan will have its premiere on Apple TV + on December 15, right before the Christmas weekend, hence making a perfect family watch during the holidays.
