Dune: Part Two, the film, was initially set to release on October 20, 2024. However, the release of the film experienced a major delay owing to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that broke out, preventing them from moving ahead with their massive publicity campaign planned. However, 2024 is going to be a big year for fans of the franchise. Not only is the delayed film eyeing a March 15 release - but the spin-off prequel will also be premiering come fall.

Dune: Prophecy sets fall premiere date

HBO and MAX's 2024 content slate presentation, Chairman Casey Bloys announced that the Dune prequel series will be making its debut on MAX' streaming platform. The date for this is set for Fall 2024. Dune: Prophecy has been 5.5 years in the making

If Dune: Prophecy actually makes it to its premiere in Fall 2024, it would make it 5.5 years since the show was first ordered. The shooting of the series commenced on November 22, 2022. However, a realignment of creative direction saw a halt in shooting till February 2023.

This period also saw premiere episode director Jonah Reck and cast lead Shirley Henderson leave the project. Indira Varma too left the project due to scheduling conflicts. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes further delayed the production which now finally appears to be wrapping up.
