PM Modi, President Murmu Mourn Sharda Sinha's Demise During Chhath Puja: An Irreparable Loss

Sharda Sinha Death: PM Narendra Modi mourned the passing away of popular folk singer Sharda Sinha in a heartfelt post on X. Sinha was battling multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, since 2017. She breathed her last at New Delhi's All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at 9.20 pm. Earlier, the hospital confirmed that PM Modi was keeping track of Sharda's condition and was in touch with the team of doctors treating her. Her death saw an outpouring of grief on social media.
Mourning Sinha's death, PM Modi wrote on X, "I am deeply saddened by the demise of renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha ji. Her Maithili and Bhojpuri folk songs have been very popular for the last several decades. The echo of her melodious songs associated with the great festival of faith, Chhath, will always remain. Her demise is an irreparable loss for the music world. My condolences are with her family and fans in this hour of grief. Om Shanti!"
President President Droupadi Murmu remembers Sharda Sinha
"The news of the demise of Dr Sharda Sinha ji, a famous singer known as Bihar 's Nightingale, is extremely sad. Sharda Sinha ji gained immense popularity in the music world by giving her melodious voice to Bihari folk songs in Maithili and Bhojpuri. Today, on the day of Chhath Puja, her melodious songs must be creating a divine atmosphere of devotion in the country and abroad," President President Droupadi Murmu said in a post on X in Hindi.
She was also awarded the Padma Bhushan in the field of art in the year 2018, the President said. "Her melodious singing will remain immortal. I express my deepest condolences to her family and fans," Murmu added.
