Rajinikanth gave me valuable advice for Chandramukhi 2 role, says Raghava Lawrence

Actor Raghava Lawrence, at a recent press meet for Chandramukhi 2 in Hyderabad, praised stalwarts like Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna for the adulation they continue to receive from their fanbase over the years. He also mentioned how Rajinikanth offered him advice for his role in Chandramukhi 2. Rajinikanth played the lead role in the 2005 film Chandramukhi, directed by P Vasu.

Rajini sir gave me valuable suggestions: Raghava Lawrence

Lawrence also recalled his reaction the day the Chandramukhi sequel was first announced. He remembered simply assuming that Rajinikanth would reprise his role from the 2005 film, adding that he was surprised upon being offered the role by director P Vasu. Lawrence added, “Vasu Garu then narrated the story to me. I feel that I have the blessings of Lord Raghavendra Swamy as I got the chance to play the role that has been done by Rajini Garu."

Lawrence went on to mention that Rajinikanth gave him many valuable suggestions on how to play the role. The Pandi actor also shared that he never had any thoughts about being compared to Rajinikanth for his performance, adding that he just wanted to do justice to the role. 

Kangana's security intimidated me, admits Lawrence

On a humorous note, Lawrence also recalled being intimidated by the heavy security that always surrounds his co-star Kangana Ranaut on the set. He added, “Yet, she made me feel comfortable. And she rocked in the character of Chandramukhi." Chandramukhi 2 will mark the second pan-India film for Kangana after her J Jayalalithaa biopic Thalaivii. 

Chandramukhi 2 is a sequel to the 2005 film Chandramukhi, which was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazu.  Besides Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut, Chandramukhi 2 also stars Mahima Nambiar, Vadivelu, and Sudha Chandran. Chandramukhi 2, earlier slated to release on September 19, will now release on Thursday, September 28.
