New Delhi: Amid the ongoing probe in the Renukaswamy murder, which involves Kannada actor Darshan and his friend, actress Pavithra Gowda, leading Kannada actor Kichcha Sudeep has demanded justice for the victim's wife and unborn child. He has also said that ban is secondary in the case. “More than the ban ensuring that the victim gets justice is important”,  Kichcha Sudeep told reporters. For the unversed, Darshan, Pavithra Gowda and his 17 aides were arrested on charges of murdering Renukaswamy from Chitradurga on June 8 for allegedly sending obscene messages to Gowda.

'Ban is Secondary'

“See, no one is above the law. If Darshan is let scot-free from the case, then what is it to do with a ban or no ban? There is no question of ban in such a scenario. What is more important here is justice. If we all pressurise the people at the Film Chamber to ban Darshan, what can they say? A few months ago, there was a call for me to get banned. So a ban is not the point, it is justified to be served. The film chamber is for justice, a ban not the word. My concentration and others'  should be and is on justice being served. Everyone is focusing on how the police, the media and courts are working in this case. A ban and all is secondary”, said Kichcha Sudeep.

‘No Question of Soft Corner’

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara asserted that there was no question of showing a soft corner for anyone about the investigation into the Renukaswamy murder case in which Kannada actor Darshan and his actress friend Pavithra Gowda have been arrested. He said the police will initiate action without any consideration. "There is no question of protecting or showing soft corner for anyone. We will not succumb to any such things," Parameshwara told reporters.

Declining to disclose sensitive information openly in public, the home minister said the investigation report will be out after the probe. When asked about when the investigation will be completed, Parameshwara said it is left to the team probing it. "Whatever action has to be taken as per law will be initiated. I and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have said time and again that we will take action without any consideration," he added. Regarding the re-induction of inspector Girish Naik in the investigation team, the home minister said such changes are subject to administrative requirements and it is left to the police department to decide who should be part of the investigation.
